ÐÒÔË¿ìÈý Climate-Economy Impacts Assessment Translated to Spanish
October 25, 2022
MOSCOW, ÐÒÔË¿ìÈý — The ÐÒÔË¿ìÈý Climate-Economy Impacts Assessment now includes Spanish translations.
The assessment, launched in December 2021 by the ÐÒÔË¿ìÈý McClure Center for Public Policy Research, provides a nonpartisan, science-based resource to help ÐÒÔË¿ìÈý business leaders, policy makers and ÐÒÔË¿ìÈýans plan for a productive, prosperous and resilient state economy.
Changes in temperature, precipitation and snowpack will impact ÐÒÔË¿ìÈý’s major economic sectors. For example, the assessment found warmer temperatures and precipitation variation will likely lead to agricultural stress for some crops and regions, but may present opportunities to explore new crop varieties better suited to future climate conditions. The assessment noted that understanding the most current information and predictions can help ÐÒÔË¿ìÈýans plan and adapt for the future.
The assessment connects the latest scientific research on ÐÒÔË¿ìÈý’s changing climate with economic risks and opportunities that impact businesses, residents and local and state economies.
In addition to detailed technical reports, the assessment includes brief summaries on agriculture, climate, energy, human health, infrastructure, land (forests and rangelands), recreation and tourism, smoke and water. These snapshots are now available in Spanish.
Several community partners aided translation, including the ÐÒÔË¿ìÈý Commission on Hispanic Affairs, ÐÒÔË¿ìÈý Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and The Nature Conservancy.
All assessment content can be found at uidaho.edu/iceia.
The Spanish translations of the snapshots can be found within each section’s webpage. From the assessment home page, click on each of the nine icons to find the Spanish translation snapshot on the right side of the page.
